Beady Eye - Different Gear, Still Speeding

"With some sadness and great relief... I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."

That was Noel's message that was posted on the Oasis website after a backstage fight between him and his brother Liam, resulting in, obviously, the break up of Oasis, but was it really a break up? A few months later, Liam decided to form a new band, Beady Eye, but... It's all the same members of Oasis, minus Noel of course. Does this mean they're going to sound exactly like Oasis? Or is this a completely new different sound?

It's Oasis 2.0

Regardless, Beady Eye is still a good band even though it's still basically Oasis. Their "debut" release Different Gear, Still Speeding has been met with really high reviews, and really low soul crushing reviews as well.

What do I think about this album?

Alright, let's forget Oasis ever existed and focus solely on the... Okay, you really cannot phase out Oasis because when you listen to the album and close your eyes, you see Oasis! Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily... But I did hope for something new. Regardless, the songs on the album are pretty top notch, they are very catchy and contagious! There are songs like "Four Letter Word" and "Beatles and Stones" where they are very rock and roll and make you groove when you raise the volume a little bit and there are songs like "Wigwam" and "The Morning Son" that give off a real relaxing feeling. This isn't a boring album, but two thirds in, it does start losing its luster. Overall, I do like the album, I give it a 7.5/10, but for the next Beady Eye album, I would love to hear something NEW.
